Kingdom @ Soren Christensen Gallery New Orleans Opening reception, May 4th (4)
Within Kollabs, the artists’ perspective on the subject matter allows the audience to preview a familiar environment while challenging them to examine the existence of human and animal Beings. Although the main premise of the exhibit questions the human construct of the forest, it also aims to reveal an infinite source of reference points beset by the tone of the exhibit itself. Whether literal or abstract, Schofield’s and Nerey’s intentions are not to rationalize a specific idea of the forest but rather suggest that the viewer interpret the works on their own without limitations set by concrete definitions -

Kollabs Figurative works (7)
Kollabs, short for collaborations, is a ongoing visual art project founded by myself and my great friend Anke Schofield. Collectively we've been working as professional artists for over twenty years. With Kollabs, Anke and I have brought forth our individual ideas and aesthetics to create various series of works exhibited throughout North America and abroad. In our new Figurative works we've introduced figures instead of animals as the subject matter. We are interested in the silent dialogue within the pieces and between the works and the viewers. -
Kollabs Animal Works (20)
In our Animal works the main subject matter thus far, has focused on forest life and animals. Particularly, the natural hierarchy within the forest inhabitants and the parallels we see in them within today’s modern day social structure.
