Form ← Function is the second installment of "Bridging The Gap"
a collaborative exhibition series between the Art Center of South Florida and the Bakehouse Art Complex. Seven artists
in residence from each institution were asked by Jacquenette Arnette and Lauren Wagner; Curators for each space, to think
about their visual language and what methods they use to communicate ideas around their work. The art works chosen involved
articulate opinions, narratives, emotive gestures and statements that are direct and identifiable by audiences. Constructions
like comedy, gesture, metaphor and symbolism help carve out and develop the dialogue. The resulting exhibition centers
on a viewer-centric show that imparts what is most important to each artist involved.
Form ← Function is not only an examination of that intuitive communication but of a symbiotic
understanding of the 'other' in the close knit relationship developed between the artist and observer.
